From the airport follow signs for Cancun and Playa del Carmen/Tulum out of the airport. Then go south on Highway 307 away from Cancun and in the direction of Playa del Carmen and Tulum.

Follow signs for Now Sapphire and Excellence. These resorts are close to Villa Caracol and the signs will lead you almost to your destination.

After about 16 km (10 miles) you will see Crococun Zoo on your left hand side.  Drive past this for about 200 m towards a large pyramid in the middle of the two carriageways.

Take the retourno at the pyramid to double back upon yourself.

Drive about 200m back north along the 307 and turn right at Crococun Zoo towards the coast for about 1 km.

At the end of the road,  at Excellence Riviera resort, turn left, north along the coast.  Continue past Now Sapphire resort

At Ocean Coral and Turquesa resort,  go through the left hand arch and along the side of that resort.  The road is now unpaved.

Keep going,  at one point following the road sharp left.  After about 2 km from the Excellence Riviera you will see a “corkscrew” building on your right and several piles of white stones on the left.

Continue until you see three telephone poles in the middle of the road.  At the third of these,  park up by the white building with three “humps”. This is Punta Caracol.

Walk through the right-land path and Villa Caracol is directly ahead of  you.

If you overshoot, you will come to a dead end after about 200 meters so you can’t go too far wrong.
